American Heart Association CPR Instructor Renewal course
The Class monitor is July 26th, 5:00-9:45 PM
Pre-requisite before taking the Instructor course:
1. Current in the AHA Instructor course.
2. Proof of teaching 2 courses per year (4), for the last 2 years.
3. Current with an AHA Training Center.
Basic Life Support Instructor Renewal course, with the American Heart Association.
1. This is a 3+ hour Instructor course in a classroom setting.
2. 2-3 hours Online Essentials Instructor program fulfilled online. A certificate of completion is required if not already completed your initial course.
At the end of this course, the instructor is able to teach the BLS course and all Heartsaver courses in CPR and First Aid for the American Heart Association.
- Intended Audience: Current AHA Instructor
- Materials: Each Course is required to have an Instructor manual, student Manual, and DVDs or online equivalent. Instructor’s manuals include an Instructor CD; more than 300 pages of 4-color lesson maps. All manuals are 8 ½” X 11”, loose-leaf, and 3-hole-punched.
- Written/Skills Exam: Required for course completion, a score of 84% or better on the written instructor test. Skill check off proficiency testing during the course.
- Course Completion Card: Valid for 2 years. Required to instruct 2 courses per year (4), to remain current.
- Course Monitoring: Must be completed with an AHA Instructor either BLS or Heartsaver course, within 6 months. The monitoring form MUST be sent to Affiliate Faculty when completed, so it can be sent in with ALL paperwork from class to the designated Training Center.
MONITORING COURSE

This course is the required monitoring portion of the AHA Instructor course New/Refresher.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
This is a 4.5-hour course completed in a classroom setting.
At the end of the monitoring, the instructor is able to teach at the BLS level and any Heartsaver courses of the American Heart Association.
Course Monitoring:
- Must be completed with an AHA TCF Instructor for the first class either BLS or Heartsaver, within 6 months from the initial Instructor course.
- The monitoring form MUST be given to Affiliate Faculty when completed, so it can be sent in with ALL paperwork from class to the designated Training Center of the instructor’s choice.
- This was previously paid for in your Instructor course.
Health & Safety Institute (HSI)
Adult CPR/AED course
HSI’s CPR and AED training course is designed specifically for laypeople and is an excellent choice for CPR and defibrillator training in both community and workplace settings. This extremely flexible program will help prepare individuals to respond to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and choking incidents. This CPR and AED course conforms to the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.
Required for Successful Completion (Certification)
Written Evaluation
Optional except when required by organizational, local, or state regulation.
Skills Evaluation
Students must perform the required skills competently without assistance.

This program includes flexible instructional tools for developing proficiency via demonstration and prompted practice, including scenario-based problem-solving exercises with feedback.
HSI First Aid | CPR AED reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and it conforms with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the annual Guidelines Update.

The course covers one and two-rescuer for CPR and Foreign body airway obstruction. It also includes the use and training in Automatic External Defibrillator AED, mouth and mask, bag-mask, and stroke/brain attack reviewed and skilled.
Passing a written exam is required.
Receive AHA 2-year course completion.
