This comprehensive EMT curriculum integrates laboratory and lecture components with online resources to provide students with a well-rounded education.

Hybrid and Online Course Session Dates for 2026:

Online and Lab Integration

Students are not obligated to complete all online coursework prior to the commencement of the first laboratory session. Online modules can be concurrently completed with laboratory sessions, thereby facilitating flexibility in the learning process.

EMT Hybrid Online and Lab Course:

  • Included: - For classroom use, clinical practice and professional use:
    • A polo school uniform shirt
    • Badge to be worn in class and at students’ clinical
    • Stethoscope w Blood Pressure cuff, Safety glasses
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR course is completed in the laboratory setting. A background check is required for all clinical experiences, with the exception of those at North Memorial. This must be completed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through fingerprinting, and there will be associated fees. The completion of this will require a lead time.
  • With over 10 patient contacts in diverse EMS locations, including live patients and simulated scenarios when necessary, we provide a comprehensive clinical experience. Our services encompass ambulance operations in North Metro and rural areas, clinics, emergency departments, event coverage in the Twin Cities, and transportation services. Through partnerships with EMS companies, students can effectively apply their newly acquired skills in real-world EMS emergencies.
  • Lab classroom where skills training is conducted by EMS educators with extensive EMS experience and guest speakers.
  • Comprehensive Online Program Access
    • Gain access to an online program for a two-year period, including a downloadable version. The program encompasses over 100 hours of online content, including audio, eText, multimedia featuring videos and 3D images, quizzes/tests, and flashcards. Users can access this program through platforms such as Blackboard Learn, Brightspace by D2L, Canvas, or Moodle.
  • Enhanced Learning Resources
    • Complement your learning experience with access to a wide range of educational videos.
  • A comprehensive written and psychomotor skills exam is available, with an optional second attempt provided free of charge.

ALL ONLINE COURSEWORK MUST BE COMPETED BEFORE ATTENDING A LABORATORY SESSION WITH SKILLS.
SIGNING-UP DEADLINE IS 2 WEEKS BEFORE LAB SESSIONS WITH SKILLS

  • Students have a one-year grace period after purchasing the course to redeem the laboratory with skills course.
  • Each day, the laboratory and skills components of this course are completed in multiple consecutive sessions; Monday through Saturday.
  • Students are required to attend all laboratory and skills sessions and cannot substitute them with other instructor-led dates because the syllabus is completed at a different pace.
  • Assessment Components:

    • Clinical Examination (Options: Ambulance, Events, Scenarios)
  • The required clinical component can be started in the evening on Friday and the final day Saturday; (options with Ambulance, Events, and Scenarios, if 10 are not achieved).

(Emergency Medical Technician)

We aim to deliver the premier EMS educational experience, encompassing coursework, clinical training, and hands-on labs. Course Requirements

You must be a current EMT to take this course. Practical psychomotor skill stations will be reviewed, but not state tested. These can be completed in another course if needed. Didactic, NREMT requirement hours, and scenarios are practiced in the classroom. A Minimum Age of 16 Years Is Recommended to Begin This Program

Course Content

Our EMT refresher course covers the NCCP Model:

  • 20 Hours NCCR
  • 4 Hours LCCR/State
  • Additional Balance of 6 Hours LCCR/State and 10 Hours ICCR to Be Obtained Independently

This course is based on the EMS Education Standards that will govern the way we learn and practice EMS. It meets the current American Heart Association guidelines for CPR and ECC.

Course Overview

The current edition of Emergency Care of EMS shows activities and standard practices of EMS systems and EMTs around the country. We follow local protocols and recognize EMTs as an integral part of organized emergency medical services teams. EMTs are trained to:

  • Recognize and safely assess crisis situations.
  • Manage patients of an emergency nature in pre-hospital settings, emergency departments, clinics, and other scenarios, including fire and police departments, event work, and transportation services.

EMT Refresher NCCP Course Includes

  • NCCP Model: 20 hours NCCR, 4 hours LCCR/State
  • Ability to obtain additional CE hours towards the NREMT
  • AHA BLS CPR course valid for 2 years
  • 24 hours of classroom lecture and skills with EMS instructors
